Doing reading 09

Image source This week we have provided feedback for each other's piece of writing which I think was very useful for everyone. It always to spot out mistakes or suggest improvements that you might haven't seen or have missed. I have read through the comments I have received from the two people and then had a quick read over my work again to see how and where can I put in the improvements and what suggests I can apply to my work. I didn't receive any negative feedback only suggestions which I felt were very good as it didn't say that it was wrong and it was helpful rather than having a comment saying "this is wrong change it". I have tried to apply and use all of the feedback I got and thanks to the positive feedback I knew what was good and didn't require any further changes. I have tried to do the exact same for the two peers that I have commented on so they will know what they can change and what I personally think is good and strong. I didn't have t

Image source This week's reading was a bit challenging but with the practice, it starts to be a lot more clear on what should go into each paragraph and how to style your writing in a more formal academic style. I feel like my academic writing has improved and sounds more serious and structural compared to what it was at the beginning of this semester. I try to correct myself when I feel like my writing sounds less academic and more slang and I am managing to be faster at fixing those mistakes.  I didn't have too much trouble or problems with writing both the introduction and the conclusion, I have followed the steps and took the tips from the videos into account, and tried to keep the paragraphs in the same structure. I did however found the writing quite time-consuming as I wasn't sure if the introduction was enough or should I go deeper into the topic without revealing too much about what was involved in the next few paragraphs. I had a look over the introduction and my

Unity Tutorial 07

Screenshot of my Unity, building a game I just want to start with a 'yay' to finally be finished with the Unity, now I can focus more on other modules and other tasks of this module. It took some time and trouble to get through this unity, the fact that we were constantly working on the same game was very exhausting and got very boring after a few weeks, one of the biggest problems I think was that if something didn't want for you then the whole game wasn't working correctly and it placed more errors for you. The steps made the process slightly faster but then some steps weren't explained well which then cause you a lot of time to figure it out especially if there were errors like spelling mistakes in the steps provided. Thankfully the last few parts of the tutorial weren't too bad and some areas were easy and turned out to work towards the end. I have already placed some audio within Unity for my own game that I have created last semester so I was more famili

Screenshot of going through my work This week's reading task was very beneficial I think to many people as they were able to get more familiar with other people's work and they have a better understanding of what is expected and how others have tackled this task. After readings, others' work you were able to get some ideas or receive some help on how to make their paragraphs more in-depth and improve their structure. I have provided feedback to two people which I based on what I knew and how I have done my own written work which I hope they found helpful and it allowed them to improve and further develop their work. I didn't want to force anything of my feedback on them so I only suggested a few factors that could be done in my opinion. I haven't received much feedback for mine but I have received some positive feedback from one person which made me feel more comfortable with the reading task. Hence why I haven't however changed anything or rewritten anything be

Tutorial 06

Unity screenshot  This week's tutorial was a bit tricky as they happen to be a lot of errors in the instructions. I was able to fix some of the errors after doing some google research and reading. This turned out to be very time-consuming and unfortunately without them fixed Unity didn't allow me to proceed with further steps as they required play mode to be working. A very big issue that I came across and that caused me a lot of time and trouble was the incorrect use of the capital letter in the names for the scripts. This cause a lot of trouble as nothing would work then and I have re-read the instructions many times and made sure it was exactly the same but it was what cause me the problem. The second part also had that mistake with the script but thankfully I noticed it earlier and got it fixed much quicker which meant I didn't get stuck for a long time again. The second part went also a bit faster and I found the canvas with the text input very handy and useful to le

Screenshot of my highlighted themes The theme of Relationship: The most common following definition of relationship is said to be the way in which two people consider and behave towards each other especially in a romantic and sexual way but what is the specific term for the player and avatar relationship known as 'PAR' which is outside of this world. In the world of digital games, PAR is defined to be the approach the player has for their avatar in the game.  The PAR can be identified as a parasocial and social relationship, in addition, it can be  very meaningful or more basic as they can be both long-term or short-term. In most cases, it was discussed how a player has a strong PAR where the player develops feelings about the avatar and can almost feel for them almost like in a human relationship. Some papers argue how the PAR can almost be a social relationship yet others argue how it can't be as it is not in the real world.  Banks, J. and Bowman, N.D. (2016) state that
