I found the document fairly hard to start as I wasn't sure if I am putting in enough information and whether or not I lack a lot of content. I decided to try to make a game design document on Dundoc. It took some time to get to know the website but I managed to learn the basic steps very quickly. I like how Dundoc offers you two different templates that help you out to begin.

I have started some work on my Game Design document on Dundoc. I have set up my account and proceeded to work. To help visualize my game more and make it easier for myself to explain, I have drawn some game sketches. I have applied colour to some to show what colours I am hoping to use in the game. In the Dundoc, I picked the most important and obvious headings and in those heading, I have explained my game design and provided the sketches in the image section.

I have organised everything in the correct folders and wrote about each heading in the description. My GDD can be view by following the link above. To this point, I am happy with the document and how it is laid out. I think that it is clear and to the point, therefore there should be no problem following the document. I wasn't sure if the amount of information is enough but I have mentioned everything I know about the game up to this point. I am planning to put in more images and screenshots to provide a more visual response to the outlook of the game.

In my GDD document on Dundoc, I have given a basic game introduction to point out what the game is about and what is involved in the game. I have mentioned the features in the game, the basic layout and then went focused on the gameplay and the controls. I have created a heading for the player where it shows that the player is going to be an ice ball. To give a finer visual of the ball, I drew up a quick coloured sketch which I added below the player's description. Towards the end of the document, I went into more details to show the point of view of the camera and talk about the objects and traps. To finish off I wrote some information about the sound I hope to use and colours.

  1. I like the drawings that you have for your game. It shows what your game is gonna be and would play out. How would you get the ball over obstacles that are a bit more challenging? Would you have the ball jump over, roll on the roof or something? I can suggest maybe making the map a little bit bigger? xD

  2. Ho Wiktoria I think you did a great job on your game design document I really like the way you have everything broken down into paragraphs which makes it very clear and easy to understand.I also like your drawing I think they are great and they really explain your game from a visual point of view.
I also think that you should experiment with what the ball is able to do and maybe increase the size of your map I think that would make your game a lot more playable and enjoyable.

  3. Hi Wiktoria, I tried to go on to your game design document link just there and it doesn’t seem to be working, maybe it’s just a problem for me but I’m not sure. Apart from that the sketches you have drawn are really good with great detail and they give me a great in sight as to what you are trying to create. Anyway, all the best completing your game! :)
